About Damien
Damien isn’t your average trainer. He is a qualified Exercise Scientist having completed both a University degree and a Fitness Diploma. His no nonsense, common sense and science based advice is read, watched and heard by millions of Australians each and every week. His difference is being able to give effective advice that is practical. He doesn’t pull punches and is not swayed by much of the garbage that has filled the fitness and health industry.
After only a few years working in the industry he was uncovered by News Limited’s body+soul lift-out and thrown their much sought after personal training column. Six years later, and almost a thousand readers questions later, he’s still doing his column. He’s since extended his journalistic endeavours with body+soul to include writing a weekly 2-page workout feature which now tally over one hundred. These features take readers through top shelf exercise programs which compliment body+soul’s other health and lifestyle experts.
For more than a year Damien has also been the personal training blogger on Australia’s biggest website ninemsn where his sometimes controversial blogs have caused a stir. This controversy stems from him breaking from the mould of regular training. His belief that most training being prescribed is worst practise and is the reason so many people are fed up with the way gyms go about their business.
