what are the dk workouts all about?
At dk, our passion is giving you the best workouts possible and helping you maximise every minute you train, with the smartest workouts in the world. Owner Damien Kelly is an exercise scientist with 20 years of industry experience. His expertise has been sought by all the big media outlets, as he is their most credible source. The studios specialise in small group circuits that have been crafted and perfected over many years. They will have you fitter and feeling better than ever. For those not ready for groups, we also offer 1:1 personal training for the extra bit of personal care.
what is the dk training philsophy?
The number one rule when it comes to getting results in the fitness industry is to abide by the F.I.T.T. Principle. Although, you may be surprised to know that Damien Kelly Fitness is one of the few places in the world to actually follow this! Why? Because our fitness model wasn't built to just make money or expand to every corner of the earth. It was designed to get each and every person as fit as humanly possible. Here's how we follow each of these critical principles:
F requency - we offer a flat weekly rate for unlimited workouts meaning you don't get penalised for training more often. We recommend 3-5 sessions a week for maximum results.
I ntensity - dk workouts are expertly designed so that you can train better than anywhere else. Every workout is tested, prepared and set up so that you train without compromise, meaning nothing stops you from giving your all.
T ype - where most fitness institutions have one signature workout style (yawn!), dk has 14 different styles - making your workouts far more interesting and allowing your body to continually adapt and improve.
T ime - the physiology of your body is challenged differently when you do a 20 minute compared to a 30, 40 or 50 minute workout. So, why do most studios and gyms always train for the same duration? Smarter training challenges you in all different ways.
Am I fit enough?
Each session is closely guided by an expert dk trainer hand picked by Damien. They will help you choose between beginner, intermediate and advanced levels in each workout and assist you to move through the levels when you are ready. With this system, there is no need for specific "beginner classes". Instead, we welcome new starters and experienced members to train all together, in each and every session.
Is this all too serious?!
Yes we take this stuff pretty seriously. We're passionate and we love to see our clients progress. However, this doesn't happen if you aren't enjoying yourself. So we believe a bit of fun is also a key ingredient. We're not a boot camp, we don't shout and carry on, and we don't push your too far out of your comfort zone. In our 2016 member survey, "FUN" was one of the three most popular words our members used to describe their dk workouts!
what ages are the workouts appropriate for?
We warmly welcome all participants from 16 years old and over. Our members range all ages, up the those who are retired and now feeling fitter than ever before in their lives.
how does the group class timetable work?
Each week, you can choose from a combination of 5 different programs:
Strength Express: A combination of strength, cardio and core in under 45 minutes
Strength Enduro: A combination of strength, cardio and core in under 60 minutes
Cardio Express: Indoor cardio intensity in under 45 minutes
Cardio Enduro: Indoor cardio intensity in under 60 minutes
Core Focus: Pure core, posture and abs with control and engagement
In your weekly timetable, every time you see Strength Express, it will be the same class in a given week and the same goes with all our other classes too. The actual programs change from week to week. Don't repeat the same class/es in the one week as variety is the key to the dk training success. For the same reasons, we recommend max. 1 session per day and between 3-5 classes per week in total.

can I try the studio before deciding what I'd like to do?
Yes! If you have never tried Damien Kelly Fitness Studio before, we would love to welcome you to try group sessions over a period of 14 days for just $55. This will allow you to try a variety of different workouts and then we can help you decide on your training schedule moving forward. If you prefer personal training, we can offer you a "2 for the price of 1" introductory deal.

is 1:1 personal training for me?
If you have specific time availabilities throughout the week, need special attention around an injury, are pregnant or recently given birth, or simply prefer the extra attention from your very own trainer, then get in touch to organise your introductory PT sessions. We can help you come up with the right training plan, to make sure you are maximising results. We also offer 2:1 training as well as private small group training for corporate groups and children.
how many people in each group session?
The number of participants in each session varies, however the numbers are generally capped at 12 clients per trainer. Our members can plan their training schedule and secure their class spots by using our dedicated booking website and mobile booking app.
how do I use the creche?
Parents of young children have the option to bring them along to 6 "bubs welcome" sessions each week. All ages are welcome in the creche, otherwise babies are welcome to stay in their pram, safely to the side of the training floor. Our creches are fully supervised, fun and social environments that have proven very popular with our dk kids over the last 10 years! No bookings required and no fees - parents can simply come along and enjoy working out in peace.
what is the cost of membership/how does membership work?
We recommend you come in for a trial, before thinking about your training plan. Once you determine how many times every week that you would like to attend the dk classes, we will help you decide on the best value membership option.

how long have you been open?
Damien Kelly Fitness Studio first opened in Coogee in 2008. Due to its popularity and success, our second studio opened nearby in Bondi Junction in 2012. In 2017, following a thorough tender process, we were granted an incredible opportunity to opertae the Staff Wellness Centre for Australia's biggest bank. Given the great success of our clients so far, we have exciting plans to keep growing the dk brand further, so that more people have access to our revolutionary training system.
